NIAA is for anyone interested in nursing informatics.
This may include individuals:
- Interested or working in nursing informatics
- Working with clinical information systems, nursing workload systems, etc
- Responsible for managing or leading projects related to health/nursing informatics
- Interested in networking with other individuals in nursing informatics
- Teaching nursing informatics
- Interested in developing standards for nursing informatics
- Interested in better understanding nursing informatics
Do I need to be a Registered Nurse to join NIAA?
No, we welcome all individuals interested in health informatics and eHealth.
If you are NOT a member of the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), you are welcome to participate as an Associate Member.
Membership Information
Regular membership: Open to all RNs, RPNs and NPs registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and to retired Registered Nurses previously registered with CRNA, who pay the annual membership.
Associate membership: Open to all others who are interested and/or employed in a healthcare informatics related field in Alberta who pay the annual membership due and register online. Associate members are not eligible to vote on matters of the association, but otherwise retain all rights and privileges of regular members.
Nursing Student: Open to all students. Nursing student members are not eligible to vote on matters of association, but otherwise retain all rights and privileges of associate members.

Membership is FREE for 2023-2024. Our priority this year is to encourage as much new membership and renewals as possible. Please ignore prompt for payment when you renew or apply for membership.
